Computers, software programs and nano-technology are, indeed, transforming the playing field on how the U.S. Military operates, both defensively and offensively.

Innovations In The Military

Specifically, software programs are allowing the military to successfully tackle strategic challenges with targeted solutions.  There sophisticated software systems provide the capability for military commands to analyze courses of action and then develop, manage and support any execution of tasks, both overtly and covertly

1)

ensure any strategic plan is feasible in a foreign environment

2)

perform status reports as they apply to mobilization, deployment, employment and  troop-sustainment logistics.

Military software programs deliver unparalleled resources for both operational and administrative command and control of U.S. Military Forces at home and around the world.  And in the end, the United States is safer, thanks to extraordinarily-developed, high-tech data that can perform feats few of us have even heard of.

Field-Command Systems:

Field-Command Systems:

A few specific applications of field-command software would include:

1:  Timely, exact intelligence communication regarding hostile and friendly forces

2:  Monitoring military operations allowing command control centers to pass critical information to theater staff and subordinate commands

3: Maximized inter-operational capabilities designed to be compatible with multi-national communications systems around the world

4:  Identification of virtual real-time stats regarding ammunition and fuel supplies, medical and transportation services, mission information, courses of action, schemes of maneuver and enemy-damage assessment

5:  Real-time graphic displays of battle environments and enemy unit locations, strength and movements

Highly-Specialized Systems:

Many of us are only partially aware of the impressively-advanced technologies that are being developed to enhance defensive and offensive forces.  Here are a few you might find quite interesting:

1:  Powered Exoskeletons:

Powered ExoskeletonsProto-types of these sci-fi looking ‘suits’ are being perfected and designed to become wearable and controlled by computerized software.   The Exo-skeleton would cover the soldier’s entire body and the power behind the arm and leg movements would be hydraulically driven through the use of an on-board computer.

The goal of these computerized ‘skeletons’ is to dramatically maximize the strength and endurance of any soldier so he or she has the ‘super-human’ ability to carry exceptionally heavy loads into and out of combat zones or while running.  Additionally, the wearer would be able to rescue wounded comrades in compromised situations while under real or probable enemy attack.  This computerized covering would enable a typical soldier to lift 200 pounds with little or no effort and better yet, a secondary type of exo-skeleton is being developed which would enable its user to lift 10 times as much as he or she would normally be able.

2:  Computerized Drones:

There has been a great deal of buzz from the media concerning military drones, and whether you approve of them or not, they are entrenched in the U.S. Military’s Special Assignment Operations.  Being unmanned presents a host of advantages; and their flight patterns and durations are under programmed human control.

Certain companies will focus on specific applications. Just like Zephy Corp may focus on terminal emulators, Stottler Henke Associates is a software company that specializes in Artificial Intelligence. The geniuses employed with the firm are currently working with the U.S. Defense Department to produce a software program so sophisticated it would enable a Drone to think like a human pilot.  Yes, the Drone would be able to replicate a pilot’s thinking processes by observing aeronautical information, analyzing it and responding in a human way.

Specifically, the drone would anticipate what maneuvers enemy aircraft might do next, as well as be programmed to intentionally avoid friendly aircraft in the skies over the United States and elsewhere.  The Air Force has granted Henke Associates $100,000 to perfect the Drone’s brain to react like a trained pilot in circumstances that are calm as well as stressful.  The project is called, Intelligent Pilot Intent Analysis System and is due to be operational by 2014…Wow.
